Some good news out of Colorado: in the previous Denver Post Poll (taken in August), Obama led by 3%; the poll released today shows a tie.
Coloradans are now evenly split over the race for the White House, with a new poll showing the two presidential candidates tied at 44 percent statewide.
Apparently 8% remain undecided. The poll was taken September 29 – October 1, and the margin of error is ±4%.
Colorado’s 9 electoral votes went to Bush in both 2000 and 2004.
Real Clear Politics has adjusted their electoral map to show Colorado as a toss-up (from leaning Obama). This makes the current tally Obama 264, McCain 163, with 111 toss-ups. All of the toss-up states went for Bush in both 2000 and 2004.
The eight toss-up states are: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, and Virgina.
The shift is Colorado is not large, of course, but it is heartening to see some movement toward McCain after the difficult last couple weeks.
