An interesting new movement trying to gain traction, inspired at least in part by the successes of Governor Palin: Read My Lipstick.
From their press release:
Unapologetically Christian and ultimately non-partisan, it is hoped that “Read My Lipstick” will blossom into a national movement giving encouragement to women who hold a Biblical worldview.
The motivation?
For too long feminists have had the public microphone and claimed they represented the majority of women in America when actually they were just a vocal minority and do not represent the female gender in any significant way.
It is hoped that the “Read My Lipstick” movement will mobilize and encourage the vast majority of women in America who have been misrepresented in the popular culture…in the mainstream media and by the feminist agenda to network and stand together to make a difference in their own communities.
I wish them the best of luck. I got a rather rude awakening when McCain chose Palin as his running mate: I had no idea that self-proclaimed feminists were far more concerned with party affiliation and/or the single issue of abortion than they were with promoting the success of women. ‘Feminists’ have never deserved that label less.
